The planning application for a wind farm at Garn Fach, south of Newtown, has now been validated and has proceeded to the next formal part of the planning process.
The scheme was first announced in January 2020 and since then EDF Renewables UK has completed site assessments and surveys, as well as three public consultation exercises, including consulting on the draft Environmental Impact Assessment last autumn (2021). Now, Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) – a department of Welsh Government – will conduct their own consultation followed by an examination of the application before giving its recommendations to Welsh Ministers for a final decision. This part of the process is led by an independent planning inspector.
All the application documents can be downloaded (click on the links above). Alternatively, you can access the planning documentation on the PEDW portal using reference number 3244499. Respondents have until 28th June 2022 to make their representations.
