Clash Gour is a 48 turbine onshore wind farm near Forres, in Moray, which has received planning consent.

Clash Gour wind farm is a 48 turbine site with a capacity of up to 225MW. It received planning consent by the Scottish Government’s Energy Consent Unit in October 2022.

With the development over 50MW, the wind farm is classed as a Section 36 scheme and required the submission of an application to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU).

The application was lodged with the ECU in December 2018 and the Environmental Impact Assessment Report submitted as part of the planning application is available to download here and from the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit.

Location

Clash Gour wind farm is located in Moray, Scotland, 12km south of Forres, located to the southwest, north and east of the operational Berry Burn wind farm.

Next steps

In 2024, EDF Renewables UK will be holding a range of public events to update the local community and businesses about the next steps of the project.

We held a community drop in event on 26 March at Edenkillie Village Hall near to the site, and Meet the Buyer event on 27 March in Inverness for businesses in the area.

We will be organising further events into the autumn and communicating dates in due course.

EDF Renewables and the community

EDF Renewables UK works closely with communities around our sites throughout a project’s lifetime.

A Community Benefit Fund will be established ahead of the wind farm becoming operational. Once operational the Fund will amount to £5,000 per megawatt per annum for the operational lifespan of the project, in line with Scottish Government guidance. This money will be used for local projects and initiatives. A Community Liaison Group will be set up as the project progresses to decide how this money is spent and the fund administered.

Community ownership

EDF Renewables supports the principles of shared ownership that give local community groups and organisations the opportunity to invest in and share in the profit generated by wind farms. The shared ownership opportunity will be further developed and promoted as plans for the construction of the wind farm are progressed.
